Capture and manage a meal from the camera

Keep your meal in view as you add foods, follow their status, review details, and finish in your diary.

Choose how to add each food

Use the camera shutter or Gallery for a photo, Barcode for a packaged product, or Meals to reuse a Saved Meal. Describe lets you type what you ate. In iOS 1.0.7, voice description adds another choice to this existing camera flow: record, check or edit the transcribed words, then submit them. Microphone permission is requested when you start recording, and typing remains available.

Stay with the meal as it takes shape

After you submit a photo or description, the camera keeps the capture session in view. Food previews and a meal summary show what you have added and which analyses are still pending, so you can add another food without starting over. A pending or failed analysis is not counted as confirmed nutrition.

Review, return, and finish

Open a food or the meal summary to check and edit the result, then return to the camera to continue. “Added to diary” means the nutrition was saved, not merely uploaded. When you are done, tap Done to leave capture and see your daily view. Nutrition estimates remain editable.

How to capture a meal

  1. Open the camera and add your first food with a photo, barcode, Saved Meal, or description.
  2. Watch its status in the camera and add any other foods in the same session.
  3. Open a result to review it, return to the camera if needed, then tap Done.

Nutrition values from photos and descriptions are estimates and can be edited.
