No. Referrals apply only when a new account is created through a personal referral link. They cannot be added retroactively to an existing account.
Your friend needs to open your personal link before creating their account. The first valid referral link they open is kept for 30 days. If they opened someone else’s link first, their signup may be attributed to that person. Check the progress in Referrals after they join.
